BIZANTINE NEW YEAR IN GAETA | 3 and 8 Sep 2019<\/h2>\n

It begins with the Byzantine New Year <\/strong>which, on September 3 and 8, will enliven the streets of Gaeta with processions and historical re-enactments. You will say, summer has just ended and we already have to prepare for the beginning of another year? Yes, but only because of the Julian calendar, which makes New Year’s Day fall between August 31 and September 1.<\/p>\n

On Sept. 8, Medieval Gaeta <\/strong>will be the scene of a historical procession composed of more than 100 figures, adorned in period clothing, who will perform choral choreography. The procession of flag-wavers, knights, representatives of the nobility and Byzantine clergy will culminate with the investiture of the Hypata.<\/p>\n

SHORT VISIONS – INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL | September 21 – 28, 2019<\/h2>\n

From Sept. 21 to 28, the best cinematic offerings of unreleased short films lands at the Ariston Cinema Theater in Gaeta.<\/p>\n

Visioni Corte<\/strong>, an international short film festival now in its eighth year, features 71 short films chosen from more than 1,200 from 55 countries around the world. This year’s offerings, divided into five categories, include international and Italian fiction, animation, documentaries and, among this year’s novelties, short films in virtual reality.<\/p>\n

For those who would like to take part in this unmissable event, admission is free.<\/p>\n

ANTHOLOGY EXHIBITION “THE LIGHT OF GAETA” | July 7 – September 21, 2019<\/h2>\n

Continuing through Sept. 21 is the anthological exhibition “The Light of Gaeta,”<\/strong> at the Municipal Art Gallery. Exhibiting the most representative works of his creative journey, chosen from paintings and sculptures created between 1960 and 2019, is artist Ruggiero di Lollo, originally from Agnone and adopted by Gaeta.<\/p>\n

The Pinacoteca, with its many diverse exhibitions of artists from all over the world, is one of Gaeta’s most interesting places for art lovers. Its elevated location, relative to the medieval district, and the difficulty in finding parking makes it more challenging to reach. TALES OF LIGHT | November 3, 2019 – January 20, 2020<\/h2>\n
